Giji Research Method
Step 1.
Every assessment begins with a theoretical upper limit. In the Giji Index, this is 12,500—representing a perfectly optimized lifestyle based on the best available scientific research.
Step 2.
A comprehensive life assessment requires a multi-domain approach. We identify and incorporate all relevant measures that impact long-term well-being, drawn from established scientific consensus, avoiding speculative or inconclusive trends.
Not all aspects of life contribute equally to overall well-being. To ensure accuracy and relevance, we apply weighted values to each measure. These weightings are based on empirical research and statistical analysis of real-world data.
Step 3.
Each measure is broken down into indicators - smaller, actionable, and ideally quantifiable units of measurement that contribute to the bigger picture. The Sleep Measure, for instance, is broken into six different indicators.
Step 4.
To generate a reliable and consistent Giji Score, we developed a standardised capture method. This ensures all indicators are measured on a unified scale and that data inputs align with validated research. This also ensures patients receive actionable feedback.
Step 5.
Below is a comprehensive measure-by-measure walkthrough of our groundbreaking methodology developed at Giji Holistic Research. This methodology powers our consumer product: the Giji Index Core.

Diet
Diet is arguably the most important factor in overall wellbeing. At minimum, a good diet is associated with good physical health, cognitive function, and emotional well-being. The Diet Measure in the Giji Holistic Index evaluates both nutritional intake and eating habits to assess how well respondents meet dietary guidelines and manage their nutrition.
Social
There is a strong causal link between the quality of social relationships and overall quality of life, including both subjective happiness and physical health. In fact, a 2010 meta-analysis of 148 studies found that social disconnection is at least as harmful as obesity, physical inactivity, and smoking 15 cigarettes per day. That same meta-analysis found that strong social relationships increase the likelihood of survival by 50 percent - regardless of age, sex or health status.
Career & Finance
Financial stability and career development are key components of long-term well-being and personal satisfaction. The Financial/Career Measure in the Giji Index evaluates respondents' financial habits, savings capacity, and career progression to determine their level of financial health and professional growth.
Romantic
The romantic relationship is arguably the most important in our lives. Romantic relationships significantly impact emotional well-being, trust, and overall life satisfaction. The Romance Measure in the Giji Index evaluates the quality and dynamics of romantic relationships, focusing on key elements such as physical intimacy, communication, and shared goals.
Mental Health
Mental health is a critical component of overall well-being, influencing emotional resilience, cognitive function, and life satisfaction. The Mental Health Measure in the Giji Index evaluates emotional regulation, stress management, and overall psychological well-being to determine how effectively respondents maintain mental health.
Healthcare
Access to and management of healthcare is essential for maintaining physical and mental health over the long term. The Healthcare Measure in the Giji Index evaluates how effectively respondents utilize healthcare services and manage their personal health needs.
